Jetstream Farewell

The 11th March 2011 saw the Royal Navy retire the Jetstream T.2 from service. An aircraft that well and truly earnt it's retirement with 38 years service under it's belt. Rick Ingham Photography sent two days at RNAS Culdrose to say goodbye.

The Royal Air Force’s Boeing Chinook helicopters have been used in every conflict since they entered service in 1981 including Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, Sierra Leone, Kosovo, the Gulf War and the Falklands. It’s no surprise then that the fleet are starting to show signs of age.

Harrier Farewell

On the 19th October 2010, Prime Minister David Cameron revealed the SDR (Strategic Defence Review) and announced the decision to retire the Harrier due to spending cuts. 44 Years after the Harrier's first flight, on the 15th December 2010. 16 aircraft flew a diamond formation over local airfields before returning to RAF Cottesmore in Rutland for the final time. Rick Ingham Photography takes a look back on the jet's service and it's last moments of service.

Finnish Hawks at RAF Valley

Exercise Pashtun Dawn 17

Exercise Pashtun Dawn 17 took place between the 14th August and 3rd of September 2012 on Salisbury Plain.
The pre-deployment ex was to prepare 4th Mechanized Brigade for their deployment 'HERRICK 17' in October 2012 to replace 12th Mechanized Brigade on a six-month tour as the lead formation of Task Force Helmand.

Operation Wyvern Tor

In September 1960, the Junior Leaders Regiment - Royal Corps of Signals came up with the Ten Tors challenge for 200 youngsters and used it as a logistics exercise.
1986 saw the event handed over to 43 (Wessex) Brigade, the regional HQ for the Territorial Army in the Southwest.

The Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF) was set up to provide a primary reinforcement capability to compliment the full time personnel in the RAF.
The RAuxAF, or RAF Reserves, consist of volunteers who give up 27 days of their year to their squadron.

Exercise Pashtun Dawn 15

Exercise Pashtun Dawn was 20 Armoured Brigade's FTXs (Final Training Exercises) on Salisbury Plain which ran from 24th July until 21st August 2011. Exercise Pashtun Dagger 2011

 Pashtun Dagger (named after the Royal Marine's Dagger symbol) provided several scenarios that the 6000 soldiers might come across in Afghanistan during their imminent deployment. This includes searching for IED's (Improvised Explosive Devices), using Close Air Support (CAS), securing an aircraft crash site and dealing with casualties.
